Even Ikea’s getting in on the egg chair action
I think we can all guess were the influence for this one came for, although I quite like the toned down arms, possibly acting as a complimentary piece to the original jacobsen design.
Designed by Carl Öjerstam and available in a black/white or black/yellow colour combination, It’s also got a chrome swivel base and a cotton cushion cover. It retails for $299, what are your thoughts on Ikea’s design?

I saw that IKEA chair the other day, and instantly thought “Oh, they’re knocking off the Egg Chair!” I own a Le Corbusier chaise lounge and an Eames lounge chair+ottoman, both of which were found for ridiculously low prices used, but I’d really much rather have an Egg Chair. So far I can’t find a sucker who is selling one at a garage sale.
The IKEA chair is very nice looking, but it lacks the grace and beauty of the wings that the Egg Chair features.
BTW, I stumbled across your site while googling in hopes of finding a bargain on a used egg chair. At this point, all I can afford is this version:
